Deming Snow

Well we didn’t have a white Christmas here in Deming,NM. But we were invited to Bob and Candy’s home and had a very nice Christmas dinner. You should remember Bob and Candy, part of the Wrecking Crew, also he’s our local artist. They both were great host for Christmas and Tiger and I thank them both.

Now for all of you that don’t believe it snows in the desert check this out. On Sunday 12/28/09 I got up and took Tiger for his morning walk and it was 17 degrees out. The thing about it is in Green bay, it was 29 degrees and in Pittsburgh it was 34. What do we snow birds know?

So this morning Tiger and I get up to this.

Dec.29,09It was only about 4 inches but really nice powder.

Xmas Parade 09

Ok for all of you who wants to know what we’ve been doing since the last blog up date here it is. The VFW Christmas parade took place on Dec. the 4th. As you all know it takes a couple of days to get the floats ready.

100_0041 Richard loaned us his trailer and we got right on it wiring the lights and testing them all for effects.

100_0042As you can see we have more Chiefs than we do Indians. But is was fun.

100_0039I think our theme was ICE, with the penguin and igloo. It was appropriate to because it was cold that night. About 35 degrees.

100_0047And they say it doesn't get cold in New Mexico.

100_0048Even the truck and the VFW riders were decorated.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA           Did I mention it was cold out?

100_0053Now I helped with the decorating but I missed the parade, So these pictures are compliments of Chuck, Betty, and Candy. Thanks to all that made this happen.

Thanksgiving

Well Thanksgiving is over for 2009 but we sure had some fun. Who says The Wrecking Crew can't have fun at their home post. VFW#1477.

After the Great dinner that was surved at the VFW we had to try a new game. So what else is there to do except play pool, Broom pool that is. This was just the first time we tried it but I'm sure there will be many more of this type of pool. Everyone seem to have to much fun. We really didn't keep score but I think Robert and Candy took the most games.

This is just what you would think would happen if you can't shoot with a broom.

Well at least Tiny can pretend..What a Rock Star...LOL

Stimulus Payment.

Thought ya'll would like this:

Sometime this year, we taxpayers will again receive an Economic Stimulus Payment. This is a very exciting program.
I'll explain it using the Q and A format:

Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. Only a smidgen.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?
A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:
* If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China or Sri Lanka
* If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs.
* If you purchase a computer, it will go to India, Taiwan or China.
* If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala or Chile.
* If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea.
* If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan.
* If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in America by:

1 spending it at yard sales, or
2 going to ball games, or
3 spending it on prostitutes, or
4 beer or
5 tattoos.
(These are the only American businesses still operating in the US .)

Conclusion:
Go to a ball game with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a yard sale and drink beer all day.

Good Friends

Well I had a nice suprise yesterday. Some good friends from Sacramento stopped by to say hi, here in Deming. However I didn't get to meet with them yesterday due to other comitments, I did get to see them this morning for a couple of hours before the were on the road again. I was invited  to stay on their property in Yuma AZ.,last September. and it was really very nice.

As you can see Yuma is really very nice in the summer even if it dose get alittle hot there sometimes. So this is just to thank Bill and Cathy for the invite.

As you can see they are serious about RVing. And it was nice to see this rig in Deming,NM. Thanks for stopping by saying hi. Have a nice and safe trip on your travels.

Hunting White Tail

A friend of mine, Robert got a tag for hunting white tail deer for this season. So he asked if I would like to go with him. His hunting range was in the Gila National Forrest just out side of Silver City NM. His tag was for Nov.7 thru Nov.11,2009. Since he or I hadn't been hunting for several years, we thought we would start early ( like 2:30 am). It took us about an hour to get to the site and then wait for sunrise so we could see what we could shoot at. Needless to say that early in the morning and a four hour wait in the forrest ( it was cold out). We didn't see any deer but had good coffee and walked around some to warm up.

As you can see we walked a good deal throughout the day. This was about a 6.7 mile trek. Since all we could see were tracks and bush, we decided to change locations and try our luck on down the road.

As you can see it was another 6.8 miles we walked. This is getting to be fun. However we never did see a white tail deer or any other type of varmit. But the coffee was good and the day was getting short.
So we decided to try again the next time.
I told Robert the tags were given out by the state and the same four days they sent the deer on vaction to the bahama's. I guess thats a good way to make money on the tags and keep the deer population up. We stopped at the VFW on our way home and I thought for sure Robert was going to shoot the meatloaf just to say he did shoot something. (I love it)

This time we decided to go on the other side of the mountain near Lake Roberts. Found some good camp sites and even a dozen wild turkey's just walking around (no deer). So if anyone has venision for sale let us know...LOL...well maybe next year..

Winter in Deming

Being a full time RV'er, It is nice to let the people you care about and the one's that care about you know what you are doing and where you are going. So I decided to start this blog. It will be up dated as the events in my travels unfold.

Winter in Deming, Deming NM. that is. The climate is mild all year around and the people are friendly. Lots of things to do here. Like trails, Hiking, Motorcycleing, ATVing, or just use your Auto. The deserts are great and the Gila National Forrest is just 40 miles away. With the Elk's Lodge, The VFW post, The Moose Lodge, and The Legioneers all open and ready to point you in the right direction for fun or any other need you might have.

Deming is located southwest of Lordberg, about 60 miles on I-10 and northwest of Las Curces on I-10 about 60 miles and just southeast of Silver City on hwy 180 about 40 miles. Lots of history here from Billy the Kid, to the Buffalo Soldiers and the Apaches, including Victorio and Geronimo. If you get a chance come and visit us.
