Duck Races of Deming, NM.

Some one was really reaching, When they came up with the idea to have water foul races in the desert. This renowned race has been going on for 31 years as of this year. DSCF0176 Yep!! You’ve got it, their real live ducks. They have two tracks set up for the ducks. One is a dry track and the other is the wet track. Of course the wet track is the town favorite. DSCF0181Dry track doesn't  give the crowd much of a view from the stands.

As you can see by the crowd this is no small event. Besides the duck races, you have the tortilla toss, The out house race. And a very nice parade, and this year about 94 vendors were on hand for eats and gifts.

While watching the parade the clowns were throwing candy and other items to the children and the crowd. This clown tossed some red balls for the kids to play with and Tiger got the idea it was for him to have this red ball. And the kid came up empty handed and disappointed when Tiger won out. The crowd really got into watching Tiger play with that ball and chase the little cars. DSCF0144

(You ever try to hold back a dog and take a picture at the same time. I’m lucky any of these turned out..)

The Elk’s lodge had a nice float this year. And took 2nd place in the final judging.

DSCF0150 Roger I really like your 59 Studebaker. It’s sharp.DSCF0169The VFW didn’t get any prizes but was a nice float.

DSCF0156 And as you can see the VFW riders are all decked out, and we appreciate their continued support. DSCF0171 Now I want you all to know Tiger and I have been to a few parades and I’ve never seen a Big Tanker truck in a parade before. So I have to call this one a first. DSCF0172
