ATV Tweak

So I get up one morning and find out the ATV is not working the way it should. Most of the time this would not be a problem, but I’m taking it hunting from the 6th through the 11th of Nov. DSCF0295I got it loaded on the trailer but it had no power and wouldn’t idle at all without the choke on. Now this is not good. So I mention it to a friend and he promptly comes to my aid. Louie has a Yamaha Kodiak like mine and has had this problem before. So we decide to tear it down and check everything to make sure I won’t have a problem again later.

So to get at anything you just about have to strip everything off. That is what I did. I figure I’ve got a week to get this done, since it is only the 27th of Oct.  However I had forgotten that the Quad Squad has it yearly ATV rodeo at 10am on the 30th of Oct.

Now its the 29th and I’ve got my rig all in pieces.

DSCF0286 Now I’m thinking it could be a head gasket or a burnt valve. So I call around to get prices to repair the rig. Well to my surprise I could by a new home for what it cost to repair one of these jewel’s. Louie came over and mentioned that it might be a carburetor problem. So with his help we rebuild the carburetor. DSCF0284

DSCF0288 Tiger insisted on helping and everything went smooth with his help. Of course you can’t tackle any job with out the proper tools. And Louie and I made sure we had what we needed to get the job done.

DSCF0292So we got it all back together on the night of the 29th and everything seems to be working correctly now. I’ll find out this morning, cause Tiger and I are going to the Rodeo and run the ATV to be sure it all works the way it should. I will send you an update on the ATV rodeo and the hunting trip. Maybe this year we will get our deer. DSCF0298

Thank you Louie for your help on this .

Till next time stay healthy and safe, from Tiger and Stu.

Ride for Cache

For those that don’t know “Cache” means (A hiding place used especially for storing provisions. A place for concealment and safekeeping, as of valuables). It’s a game we play called geocaching. With winter coming on, there aren’t many days left for hunting for lost treasure or to ride our ATV’s.

DSCF0273  So a group of us got together and met up for a day of fun on the ATV’s and to pick up a couple of geocaches that we hadn’t gotten. You might notice that Tiger and I couldn’t get our ATV to start so we took the truck. (Tiger hates it when we can’t go and play.) Ramblin Ramsey and I are the only ones that do geocaching, so it was a treat to help along a couple of new comers too the game.

DSCF0269Dillon, Jean, and Bobby have never been with us before to ride or to geocache. I think they enjoyed it.  I know Tiger really had a good time and so did I.

We are getting ready with the ATV’s and checking provisions. This we do often before going into the desert.

Getting our GPS’s set up to find the cache and to find our way back home. Some people can get lost in their own back yard. These people are the ones that really need a GPS.  (Great gadget’s)  Tiger and I have a GPS because our back yard is the USA.

Out of the three caches we went to find, Our new comers found two of them. Bobby found the fist one while Dillon was driving the ATV. And the second one Dillon found on his own. I think they will play this game again. (Nothing like finding a treasure).

P9280527_thumbNotice Bobby checking out Dillon on his find. All the caches were with in a couple of miles of each other, and even Tiger and I got to ride the ATV. We barrowed Jean’s, while she drove the truck. Tiger love’s to ride. Thanks Jean.

So with all this excitement it must be time for lunch. So find the shade with that great GPS of yours. That’s what I thought. Okay look for a shadow. It just might be shade.

DSCF0278 Yep! Looks like shade to me. LOL.

So as we each stand beneath a leaf and eat our lunch, in the shade. (The world turns).

DSCF0279 You might notice this is the only tree within miles.

DSCF0280

It’s okay, if we eat fast maybe the shade won’t disappear.  So why don’t we sit in the truck, or under it like Tiger dose?

DSCF0281  Nope that won’t work. So I’ll show you our trek and call it a day.

Those little smiley faces you see on the track are the caches we found. The red line is our path of travel. Now that we all had a good lunch. (in the shade) we can go home.

So be safe and healthy. Till the next time from Tiger and Stu.
