Mule Deer Hunt

Here it is Nov. 5th 2010 and Roberts hunting license begins on the 6th. I open the VFW, this day so Bob took off to set up camp and I will join him after work. DSCF0369

Of course Tiger has to go as well.

DSCF0370  Since we have the ATV’s and Bob took the RV up already we will leave about 4:30 pm for our hunt site. DSCF0371

Our hunting area is the same as last year, except we will be on top of Pino Alto’s and the lower side of Lake Roberts.

Bob has the RV set up and a good fire going by the time Tiger

and I get there.

DSCF0373 Unload the ATV’s and we are ready to go. Tiger is already out hunting. Just can’t slow that puppy down. DSCF0375

We have plenty of fuel, plenty of water, plenty of food,

And plenty of Tiger. DSCF0376

Of course he has to check out Bob’s RV. No hunting trip is complete without an inspection.

Sure hope it passes inspection from Tiger. He is really picky…LOL

Tiger will have to stay and watch the RV. He can’t go hunting with us. The law you know.

DSCF0383Day one up at 4am and get fire going and cook breakfast before starting off. DSCF0384

Darn it’s cold out here. And Tiger thinks were nuts.

DSCF0386

Yep! that’s him just standing in the door way saying your Nuts. I’m not going out there. There’s cougar and bear out there.

He’s real brave.

DSCF0380Ah! Day light.

DSCF0391  Day two up at 5am. Day three up at 6am. Darn if we stay a week, we’ll be sleeping till noon. Needless to say we didn’t get a deer. However we did see alot of Doe’s.  These pic’s will show our trek for each day.

Till the next time stay safe and healthy. From Tiger and Stu.

Annual ATV Rodeo

This is our third year for the rodeo. It has been held at Harold and Barbara’s home and it is really alot of fun by all. This year we didn’t have all our friend out there. One couple is in the hospital, One couple was out of town hunting, and yet an other couple are recovering from a minor stroke. An other couple were out of town on business. And some of our friends from Silver City couldn’t make it this year. As you can deduce there was a lot of the Quad Squad missing in action this year. But the ones that showed up had fun anyway.

DSCF0300

Saturday morning and just getting started. DSCF0304Every good rodeo starts with a great Bloody Mary.

These were made by Richard, and this year we had stuffed green olives with Jalapeno’s.  Hmm, Hmm good.

DSCF0307

Notice the line is just starting.

DSCF0306

Some started earlier than we did. LOL

DSCF0309Some of us started with the poker run. In this situation you really want to lead. Cause you will get dry, with all the dust.

DSCF0311

DSCF0312Being able to find the buckets with the cards in them is a real challenge. DSCF0313

DSCF0314

Any one that doesn't have an ATV can just grab one that’s not in use. So everyone can enter the events and have a chance to win.

DSCF0316Now for the blind mans bluff. The driver is blind folded and the passenger gives directions. The hard part for the driver is to go in the correct direction when your passenger gives directions by pointing a finger, arm or leg and says go that a way.

DSCF0337

Every time you run over a can or crash into a pumpkin you get a time penalty and that could cost you when you need the fastest time to win.

DSCF0319

We finish all the events that we entered, and drank and ate, and we just had a real good time saying hi to all the friends that came back this year for this special Rodeo. We really thank Harold and Barbara for the sharing of their home.

DSCF0342

Having a problem Fred?

DSCF0349Look “Ma”, go that a way.  DSCF0352

Now waiting for each event is always fun, In New Mexico they call this Siesta time.

DSCF0358

The blog isn’t big enough for all the pic’s, So Tiger and I will say keep safe and healthy.

Next up date will be our hunting trip. Mule Deer.
